This is why you should buy a used Toyota over a new one. :)

No matter how much we hear it, no one can overemphasize how good buying a used Toyota car is. It is sensible and amazingly affordable. There are many reasons why buying a used car is better than buying a new car. Of course, in Africa, it is all about the price.

1.) The price for the used car will be many times lower than that of the new vehicle. Did you know that it is cheaper to insure a used car? The logic is that a new car is more likely to attract vandals. Therefore, chances of it being stolen or vandalized are higher. The premiums for the used cars are lower.
2.) Toyota used cars from Japan are very popular. Thus, it is very easy to find the spare parts. No one wants to buy a car from a dealership and then have to order replaceable parts from the country of manufacture when they need some. It is also easier to find mechanics that actually cut their teeth on Toyota cars.
3.) You never thought of this one … used cars are rigorously tested before they are shipped to Africa. For Toyota used cars from Japan, JAAI inspects every one of them to ensure that they pass all the roadworthiness tests. In addition, if you buy yours from BE FORWARD, they have their mechanics that check every car to make sure that it is ready for the African terrain.
4.) Toyota sells the most used cars to Africa every year. They have some of the most fuel-efficient cars in the world and for a steal, you can get great 1.8-liter engines for compact cars and up to 3.0 liter engines (clean diesel technology) for multipurpose vans. As for the variety … well, that speaks for itself. You will need help to choose a car from the available ones. There are SUVs, sedans, wagons, vans, mini vans, pickup trucks and hatchbacks. No matter what your preference is, there will be something for you from the Japanese used car exporters. You will be spoilt for choice.

5.) If you buy a used Toyota car in Africa, most likely you will pass it to another owner later on. It will be easy to give the car an extended life, by passing it to a third or even forth owner, especially if you maintain it in good condition. In Africa, cars change hands many times over, before they ever see the junkyard.
6.) Toyota used vehicles are great for business. For example, you could buy a Toyota Hiace van and start ferrying passengers from one town to another. This is a lucrative business considering that in most countries in Africa, only one out of 25 people owns a car. In addition, if you are in business, you will need a van to ferry cargo from place to place. Toyota used cars are the best tools that every small business needs to grow and with a variety of vans to choose from, you can never go wrong with Toyota.
In Africa, people prefer paying for their cars in cash. Most of us do not know about credit history and credit scores. In that case, it can be hard to pay cash for a brand new car. A used Japanese Toyota car is a good alternative.

The future for African roads

Growth in the infrastructure, in the road networks in Africa means a larger market for cars. Could this be why most of the foreign donor aid received from is directed to developing the infrastructure? Africa needs many cars, trucks, vans and buses to keep mobile. Transport, as we know, is the life and blood of the economies of the world.
                             Africa's Road Infrastructure
The twilight years of the 20th century saw the economy of Africa grow enormously. Today, there are more resources in the continent and with the era of the dictators coming to a close end; she is investing her time in the exploitation of the resources. Recent discoveries of billions of barrels of oil in Northern Kenya, Uganda and elsewhere attest to this. However, even with all reasons for Africa to smile, she isn’t out of the woods yet, but she will be, eventually.

The auto industry in Africa has fuelled this growth! It takes a road to drive a car, much as it takes the driver. Therefore, what promises can the African roads expect from the future? Look around you everywhere and you can see the slumbering giant is waking up, and there is a frenzy of road construction activities everywhere you turn around.

African roads

In 20 years time, all of Africa will be connected via paved roads. Let me demonstrate how this is going to happen. Today, it is cheaper and fast to travel via road from Kenya to Tanzania. The Pearl of Africa (Uganda) clears her imports through the Port of Mombasa and then most of the cargo is transported via road to Uganda. That means that three countries are now very well connected. In addition, Uganda is further connected to Rwanda and Burundi, and the connections are growing! Ok, let us now consider what this kind of connection this means for a carmaker, in marketing terms.
In 2012, Kenya had a record 43 million people, Uganda had 36 million and Tanzania had 47 million. Rwanda had 11 million people and Burundi had 9 million people. If you add up all these figures, you will get a ripe 146 million people. Do you know what this means? More hungry mouths to feed? You are right and wrong at the same time. It means a market for manufactured products, a ready market for cars.
Japan is the number one supplier of used and new cars to Africa, selling hundreds of thousands of units every year. Our bet is that it will stay at the top for a long time. Quality, affordability and fuel efficiency are the three things on the mind of an African buyer. Japanese brands like Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Isuzu, Hino and Mitsubishi have so far have been able to offer these and so far, they remain unbeaten, at the top of the list of used and new car suppliers to Africa.

Paved roads in Africa

The kilometers keep growing. Thanks to all parties that have brought the dream of the Trans-African Highway network to reality, Africa may be connected sooner than anyone expected. The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), African Development Bank (ADB) and the African Union (AU) are sponsoring road networks across Africa to help alleviate poverty through trade. A good example of this great ideal is the Mombasa-Nairobi-Kampala road.  Many others have been constructed elsewhere.
                           African Road Infrastructure
So far, South Africa leads in the African countries with the longest paved roads, followed by Nigeria, Libya and many others. The ball is rolling and it will not stop until all kilometers of road can be paved.

The first ever automobiles.

The early history of the automobile can be divided into a number of eras, based on the prevalent means of propulsion. Later periods were defined by trends in exterior styling, size, and utility preferences.
In 1768, the first steam-powered automobile capable of human transportation was built by Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot.
In 1807, François Isaac de Rivaz designed the first car powered by an internal combustion engine fueled by hydrogen.
In 1886, the first petrol- or gasoline-powered automobile, was invented by Karl Benz This is also considered to be the first "production" vehicle as Benz made several other identical copies.
At the turn of the 20th century electrically powered automobiles appeared but only occupied a niche market until the turn of the 21st century.

Pictures appear below respectively as mentioned above:

When to change your tires

Most tires are designed to provide similar performance throughout their lives. However, at some point they start to lose performance in terms of their traction and braking ability. Here are a few tips that should help you decide if it is time to start shopping for a new set of tires and avoid spending more than you need to.

1. Tire treads are designed for traction. To let water go through as you drive through wets surfaces.

2. Look at the tread pattern. Tires have tread bars which let you know when is the right time to consider changing the tyre

3. If the tyre is recently changed and you still can find that your wheels are being worn out its time you consider servicing. Wheel adjustments and suspension checkups are neccesary.

4. Always check for abnormal buldges and bubbles. This shows that the tire has been damaged and needs change. Bubbles can sometimes cause the tire to burst when it overheats.

 5. And if you are just not in alot of driving and tires last a while it is always adviced to simply change them after a period of 6years regardless of how good they look.

Funny car stories

THE HAND BRAKE.
(I’m a woman in her 20s, and I look quite young. A group of men in their 30s have come in, having booked a minivan for a trip to the Czech Republic.)
Me: “…and here’s your rental agreement. It states that the car is a diesel, but please check yourself at the gas station, because the computer-provided data about the cars have been known to be wrong.”
Customer: “Do you think I’m stupid? I’m a grown-up man for God’s sake!”
Me: “Certainly not, but such mistakes happen more often you’d like to think. I’m only saying this to avoid you having to pay for any damages, or simply having a broken car in the middle of your trip.”
Customer: “Well, you’re a girl, so I’m not surprised you don’t know that the type of fuel the car requires is written on the gas refilling hole. I’m not surprised you know nothing about cars; it’s a man thing and requires some technical knowledge.
Me: “Okay then. Have a nice trip and be safe!”
(The customers go out to the parking lot. I can see them fidgeting with the remote, and have some trouble just opening the car. Once inside, I see them pushing various buttons on the radio and still not driving out of the parking lot. After several minutes, the customer I’ve spoken with comes back in.)
Me: “Is everything okay?”
Customer: “…I can’t find the handbrake.”

Know the Cadillac.

Cadillac logo.png

Formally the Cadillac Motor Car Division, is a division of U.S.-based General Motors Company (GM) that markets luxury vehicles worldwide. Its primary markets are the United States, Canada, and China, but Cadillac-branded vehicles are distributed in 34 additional markets worldwide. Historically, Cadillac automobiles have always held a place at the top of the luxuryfield within the United States. In 2012, Cadillac's U.S. sales were 149,782 vehicles.
Cadillac is among the oldest automobile brands in the world, second in America only to fellow GM marque Buick. The firm was founded from the remnants of the Henry Ford Company in 1902, almost 9 years before Chevrolet. It was named after Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, who founded Detroit, Michigan. The Cadillac crest is based on his coat of arms.
By the time General Motors purchased the company in 1909 Cadillac had already established itself as one of America's premier luxury carmakers. The complete interchangeability of its precision parts had allowed it to lay the foundation for the modern mass production of automobiles. It was at the forefront of technological advances, introducing including full electrical systems, the clashless manual transmission and the steel roof. The brand developed three engines, with its V8 setting the standard for theAmerican automotive industry.
Cadillac was the first American car to win the Royal Automobile Club of England's Dewar Trophy by successfully demonstrating the interchangeability of its component parts during a reliability test in 1908; this spawned the firm's slogan "Standard of the World". It won the trophy again in 1912 for incorporating electric starting and lighting in a production automobile.

Founding

Cadillac was formed from the remnants of the Henry Ford Company. After a dispute between Henry Ford and his investors, Ford left the company along with several of his key partners in March 1902. Ford's financial backers William Murphy and Lemuel Bowen called in engineer Henry M. Leland of Leland & Faulconer Manufacturing Company to appraise the plant and equipment in preparation for liquidating the company's assets. Instead, Leland persuaded the pair to continue manufacturing automobiles using Leland's proven single-cylinder engine. A new company called the Cadillac Automobile Company was established on 22 August 1902. It was named after French explorer Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, who founded Detroit in 1701.

First automobiles

Cadillac's first automobiles, the Runabout and Tonneau, were completed in October 1902. They were two-seat horseless carriages powered by a 10 hp (7 kW) single-cylinder engine. They were practically identical to the 1903 Ford Model A. Many sources say the first car rolled out of the factory on 17 October; in the book Henry Leland – Master of Precision, the date is 20 October; another reliable source shows car number 3 to have been built on 16 October. Cadillac displayed the new vehicles at the New York Auto Showin January 1903, where the vehicles impressed the crowds enough to gather over 2,000 firm orders. Cadillac's biggest selling point was precision manufacturing, and therefore, reliability; a Cadillac was simply a better-made vehicle than its competitors.

Notable events

The Cadillac Automobile Company merged with the Leland & Faulconer Manufacturing forming The Cadillac Motor Company in 1905
From its earliest years, Cadillac aimed for precision engineering and stylish luxury finishes, causing its cars to be ranked amongst the finest in the United States.
Cadillac was the first volume manufacturer of a fully enclosed car in 1906. Cadillac participated in the 1908 interchangeability test in the United Kingdom, and was awarded theDewar Trophy for the most important advancement of the year in the automobile industry. In 1912, Cadillac was the first automobile manufacturer to incorporate an electrical system enabling starting, ignition, and lighting.
